Serving as a crossing guard in Port Perry gives him “a purpose in life.” He has made so many friends through this job, it’s a joy for him to get up in the morning and go out and greet everybody. Maurice (pronounced Morris) says he has “friends from all over the world” who live right in town: People from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, England, Holland, Nova Scotia and Alberta, for example. He “loves the kids and the parents too. They are so friendly and respectful, even the high school students.” Everyone he meets likely mirrors Maurice’s own sunny personality. His motto is, “You’ve got to make your own life happy every day.” Why Maurice Midgley is always smiling ......................
