FOCUS - SEPTEMBER 2018 5 You may have seen Silvio on Rogers Cable TV, where he demonstrated cooking with aronia berries, making nutritious and delicious salads. The staff at the television station all clamoured to keep his tupperware containers of leftovers! Aronia berries have a longer shelf life than most berries, staying fresh on the counter for 20 days or more. They also freeze well. They can be made into bread, jam, jelly, wine and drinks. The Mattacchione family has two breakfast menus. One day, they enjoy organic eggs from their own chickens. The next day, they enjoy a Budwig diet breakfast drink. Here’s the recipe: In a blender, mix 2:1 flax seed oil with organic cottage cheese. The result is the consistency of yogurt. Add aronia berries, walnuts or Brazil nuts and organic honey, and whirl it into a power smoothie. You can also consume the concentrate, with a spoonful mixed into a glass of water. Silvio’s interest in aronia berries began through connec- tions he made through his career as a book publisher. He is also a successful writer himself, primarily on the subjects of health and his passion since childhood, pigeons. To contact Silvio, you may call 905-985-3555 or email silvio@silvio-co.com.
