There is no minimum pledge or entry fee. It is a family non-competitive atmosphere. It is a family friendly event (including dogs) and frequently with three generations. We truly appreciate the support of everyone. THANK YOU SCUGOG There are over 10,000 Terry Fox Runs across Canada - ALL volunteer led and organized. A huge thank you to our 50+ volunteers for their enthusiasm and ongoing support. Annually several local businesses and individuals provide goods, services and finances to cover the cost of the complimentary barbecue for over 400 people. The Durham Regional Police Auxiliary has come out every year to patrol the route and assist at the busiest intersections. The Blackstock and District Lions Club have arrived with their barbecues and volunteers to cook up the hamburgers and hot dogs for the complimentary barbecue for 25 years. Janice Beechey, Ken Crawford, Elizabeth McArthur, Kelvin Todd have been organizing the Scugog Terry Fox Run since 1994, Mary Holt joined them in 1999. The Terry Fox Foundation continues to be a leading national investor in cancer research. 82 cents of every dollar you raise goes towards cancer research. Terry ran the equivalent of a marathon for 143 days in the heat, fog and rain. So far there has been only one year of heavy rain and just as Terry ran in all types of weather 308 people turned out in 1996 to complete the route. For 25 years Ken Koury, owner of the Nutty Chocolatier at 182 Queen Street, Port Perry, dedicates a Terry Fox window display and his staff take on the major task of storing and selling the TFR t-shirts before Run day. and most of all Did You Know, 1994 – 2018 Celebrating 25 years in Port Perry 25 years and still walking and volunteering, except for Garrett Fisher, he is pretty new to this!
