FOCUS - MAY 2017 5 The cast of the Little Mermaid Jr. Parents Denise Bell and Joanne Thornton are the creative duo who put together the fantastic costumes. It’s truly a school-community effort to make the show go on, Hanna pointed out. The local production of this classic Disney title con- tains all of the songs from the Academy Award winning animated feature film, as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. The Little Mermaid Jr. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she will have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch, and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice. The story of The Little Mermaid is a heartwarming tale which appeals to all ages. Hanna noted that the students from Epsom and Greenbank are looking forward to attending an afternoon performance. And of course, the public is invited. Tickets for this entertaining musical are only $5 per person, and can be purchased in the library of S.A. Cawker. There will be two shows daily, on Wednesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 11. Show times are 1 pm for the matinees and 7 pm for the evening performances. Let The Little Mermaid become part of your world!
