Bev, who started roller skating at age 11, celebrated her 90th birthday with 35 friends at a roller skating birthday party at Coachlite Roller Gardens in Oshawa. Bev and her friend Ruth Roncetti take turns driving there every Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There’s usually 12-15 older roller skaters out. Bev describes The Coachlite Rollers as “one big happy family.” They choose their own music, and Bev especially likes “Sleepwalk” and “Memories” plus songs by Vince Gill and Eddy Arnold. “I intended to keep skating until I was 80,” Bev says, “And now I’m 90, and I’m still skating! I can’t stop now because I got skating passes for my birthday and I need to use them!” ...................... Bev also shared the top photo of herself as a young girl, wearing her very first roller skating outfit in 1942.
