Rev. Jennifer Uhryniw conducted the service with the assistance of the Blackstock-Nestleton United Church choir. Regional Councillor Elect Wilma Wotten welcomed everyone on behalf of the Township of Scugog. Those who were able walked to the Cenotaph where the names of the soldiers who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars were recited. The Canadian flag was low- eredtohalf-mastduringtwominutes of silence followed by the placing of the wreaths on the Cenotaph. The attendees returned to the Recreation Centre for a luncheon of sandwiches, cookies, coffee and tea hosted by the Blackstock and District Lions Club, where old friendships were renewed and new ones made. Fred Carter came all the way from Brampton to honour his three brothers who served in World War ll, in which his older brother Roy lost his life.
