But the fundraising jewel is the benefit concert. “InadditiontoLeslieAnn,we’vebookedlocalteacher Laurel Griffin performing on flute/piano, professional jazz saxophonist and teacher Pete Smith, singer/piano player and music therapist Bev Foster, trumpet player Graham Thibert, and local guitar teacher Ian Parliament performing with two current students. “Emceeing the show will be another graduate, Janet Green, who’s made a career acting in commercials, tv shows and movies.” January 28 promises to be a night of varied entertain- ment, but also a night of pride. Rory, along with his fellow teachers, will no doubt be beaming as they watch former students perform, each one’s life enriched by the love of music, and the skill of passionate educators. The Port Perry Alumni Benefit Concert will take place at the Port Perry United Church, 294 Queen St. on Saturday January 28 starting at 7 p.m. Tickets ($20) are available at the high school’s main office, 160 Rosa St., META 4, 200 Queen St., and Jillian’s, 221 Queen St. in downtown Port Perry, or at the door the night of the performance.
