If you are going to fly another nation’s flag, be respectful of the country you are living in and fly our Maple Leaf prominently above all others. THUMBS UP - Another resident would like to let the drivers (usually three) of the Luchka transports that go down Medd Road on their way home, how much they appreciate and thank them for driving slow and cautiously. We all just want to get home at the end of a hot day on the road, but these guys take the time to do it safely. So thank you and yes, someone does appreciate the time you take. THUMBS UP – A number of readers wanted to give a big thumbs up to the ‘drive slowly’ school safety signs that have been erected in the middle of Queen Street in front of R.H. Cornish Public School. Most people drive too fast along that stretch, forgetting that nothing is more precious than our little ones! THUMBS DOWN - to everyone who drives north on the Ridges and disobeys the posted sign that reads, “Keep right except to pass”. Slower cars on the right; faster cars that want to pass on the left. Let’s avoid the inevitable accident caused by some driver swerving lanes between cars. THUMBS UP - once again to the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation for their continued generosity. During the signing of their new partnership agreement, they donated and surprised a number of our community charities and non-profit agencies with a healthy contribution of over $500,000. Thank you from all of Scugog! THUMBS DOWN - to the entrance of the Town Hall 1873 Theatre facing Queen Street: the beautiful old door in need of scraping and a good coat of paint; lovely old lamps that are never lit and the unattended plantings that cover the wall plaque. THUMBS UP says the letter writer, to the dedicated, hard-working staff and board members who I am sure will remedy this. Any possible volunteers out there?
