Chiropractic, Foot Pain Therapy, Orthotic Therapy 1) ASSESSMENT I have been treating foot pain and building quality custom made orthotics for nearly 21 years and I am still surprised how many patients have never received treatment for their foot problems prior to receiving their orthotic device. 2) TREATMENT Treatment can consist of impulse and manual adjusting, joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy as well as modalities to reduce inflammation. These are the same principles used in the treatment of spinal disfunction. 3) SUPPORT This includes orthotic support, shoe recommendations and in many cases, maintenance treatments to the foot ankle complex. Chair Ivo Finotti is proud to announce that the inau- gural event will be held on May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Palmer Park. DogGuidesisanationalcharityoftheLionsFoundation. Dogs are provided free of charge to assist people suffer- ing from loss of vision or hearing, seizures, autism and diabetes. “Someone in Port Perry is on the waiting list for a dog guide,” said Ivo, “so the more we raise, the quicker the backlog will clear, and our neighbour will get their support.” Ivo says he got “hooked on walking for dog guides” when he saw an episode of the Rick Mercer show in February 2013. Since 1984, the dog guide walks have grown to 300 in Canada and 150 in Ontario. His cousin, Franca Marie of Utica, New York, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 35 years ago. Her husband Doug credited her longevity to her dog guide Ghia. Tasks such as opening doors, answering the phone and picking up lost items, all made life easier for Franca Marie. Ivo made a commitment to start a walk in Port Perry in memory of her, when she passed away last July. In the previous years, Ivo participated in the Blackstock walk for dog guides and he is determined to bring this important event to Port Perry. “The legendary Port Perry community spirit did not let us down,” Ivo commented. Support is growing, with seven enthusiastic steering committee members, and a list of sponsors, including Port Perry Pet Valu, The Design Coalition, Abbey Rose Florist, Port Perry Smokehouse, Canadian Tire, Old Flame Brewery, Southside Pet Clinic, McDonald’s, Hank’s Pastries, Jonathan van Bilsen, Just 4 Paws, PP Print, Scugog Animal Hospital and Gus Brown Buick GMC.
