On Saturday September 17th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Port Perry and Prince Albert United Churches’ Outreach Committee is pleased to present the 8th annual Port Perry Town & Country House Tour. This year, we are delighted to present six houses locat- ed in Port Perry, Seagrave, and on Scugog Island. These unique homes range in age from circa 1873 to 2014. Each home offers something intriguing; from an extensive restoration of the historical Currie house to a variety of beautiful decorating styles and exceptional renovations. One of the houses, built by Steve Snider Construction, will awe visitors both inside and out. The lovely garden oasis at a century home from the 2015 tour, will delight visitors with a rejuvenation done by Arbor Landscapes. As 2016 marks the 150th anniversary of the Prince Albert United Church, it will be open during the tour with a display of historical church photographs and beautiful handmade quilts. We are grateful to the homeowners, churches, sponsors, and many volunteers who are most generously support- ing this charitable event. Since 2009 we have raised almost $80,000 and we are pleased to announce that this year an additional charitable organization has been added. The house tour distributes all of the funds raised between five important local organizations: Big Brothers Big Sisters North Durham, Community Care Durham, Joanne’s House, North House and YWCA Durham’s Second Stage Housing for Women. Tickets remain at the price of $25 each and this entitles you to view all eight venues plus the garden with a spe- cial visit to the Port Perry United Church Café. Here you will enjoy complimentary refreshments featuring fresh home made scones, muffins, and home made jams, lov- ingly made by members of our congregations. There will also be a limited supply of jams for sale. There are only 500 tickets available. Please don’t delay and purchase early to avoid missing another great Port Perry House Tour. Not only will you have a wonderful day seeing amazing architecture, lovely gardens, and inspired decorating, but you will also make a positive impact on children, at-risk youth, women, men, and the elderly within our community.
