FOCUS - OCTOBER 2017 13 Ribfest to be held in 2018. In anticipation of continued success, the Rotary Club has made a major commitment to the new 5 bed local hospice being built next year. Putting on a big event like the Ribfest is “a great under- taking,” Jim pointed out. On behalf of the Rotary Club, he expressed appreciation for the support of the community and all of the sponsors, volunteers and Rotarians. “We are proud of the good work that can happen when we all come together,” he commented. Again, the Raffle Draw prize for the 2018 Ribfest, “will be big,” Jim promised. Raffle tickets are made available four months prior to Rotary Ribfest, plus they are sold during the event. In 2017, the draw was held on Ribfest Sunday. Don’t forget to get your tickets for the annual Spring Gala, the popular annual fundraising dinner dance and auction held at the Royal Ashburn golf club in April. The Rotary Club of Port Perry has always generously supported good causes to make their hometown a better place to be. For example, in the past, local Rotarians have contributed $100,000 each to the local hospital and library. The Club is optimistic that they will reach their goal of raising $150,000 goal for Port Perry hospice, thanks to community support.
