Give a Hoot for Hospice in Memory of Carley Anne Caldwell has challenged the community to reach their goal of five hundred amateur painters put- ting paint to canvas to raise money for the Oak Ridges Hospice and the Scugog Council for the Arts. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s going to make a big impact,” said Steve Caldwell, who is organizing the event in honour of his late daughter Carley Anne Caldwell. Carley passed away from cancer in February 2017. “She was a talented chef but she also loved painting,” he said. A number of sponsors have already declared their support and the organizing committee would like to say thank you to JJ McGuire, Long & McQuade, Township of Scugog, Ok Tire, The Jester’s Court, Focus on Scugog, Hometown Printing, META4 Gallery and Liquitex. “The support from this amazing community is overwhelming and we are very grateful,” said Steve Caldwell. “This event will allow us the opportunity to give back to a facil- ity that offers comfort similar to the home that provided so much to Carley and her family during our difficult time.” The cost per painter to participate is $20. You can also support a painter by donation. Please visit scugogarts.ca/hoot-for-hospice for regis- tration information or to donate. In the event of rain, the event will be moved to the Scugog Community Recreation Centre on Reach St. The committee is also looking for volunteers to help with the event.
