FOCUS MARCH 2018 3 Scugog’sownNESTLETONWATERS INN earned the 2018 The Knot Best of Weddings Award and has been entered into the gold standard Knot Hall of Fame! Co-owner Deborah Kiezebrink said that NWI was chosen out of 300,000 wedding professionals throughout North America. Over a million reviews were assessed. “We were thrilled with this hon- our,” she commented. The majestic 7200 square foot country inn is nestled on an idyllic 96- acre property. It’s near Lake Scugog, but the body of water you see in the photos —often with a couple enjoying a romantic outing in the red canoe — is really a one-acre spring fed pond. Zebra print towels are available to guests who want a swim. You can fish along with the blue herons in the summer, or watch the playful otters skating on the ice in the winter. Deer come up to the inn from the 30 acres of unspoiled woodland, and turtles lay their eggs along the shore. “The pond is the backdrop of na- ture,” Deborah said. It was “the dream of two moms” to convert the original Kiezebrink family farmhouse into a grand estate, large enough to accommodate the whole family for Christmas gather- ings. That would be Deborah’s mother Fern Willner, “who came from a family of seven, and had seven children” and Deborah’s husband Erik’s mother Erika “the Queen of love and hospitality.” Deborah’s husband Erik Ataleofwintercamping, prestigiousawards, ottersonafrozenpond, alocalhighschoolprincipal, missionariesinKenya, ironedsheets, wildgrapesandsecretstaircases…. ......................
