Melanie Redford, Holistic Nutri- tionist & Health Coach shared ideas, single portion size recipes and tips for seniors to eat affordably and healthy. Terry Vos, owner of Vos’ Independent Grocer, taught how to read labels, so that no one should feel confused at the grocery store again. Healthy Eating Can be Fun YUM! PhotoS by MARyANN FLEMING On Saturday June 10, Community Living Durham North will present the 3rd annual The Ultimate Race based on the TV show The Amazing Race. Teams of three or four people will start in downtown Uxbridge and will be given clues which will lead them to a local business, otherwise called a Pit Stop. Once at the Pit Stop they will complete challenges in order to get the next clue to lead them to the next Pit Stop. The final leg of the race will end with prizes and lunch for all participants. This adventure-packed event is geared towards peo- ple of all ages and abilities. The funds generated from this event are split between the United Way Durham Region and Community Living Durham North’s Youth group. Registration to participate in the race is $15 individually or $20 for a pair. Children 5 and under are free. Your regis- tration fee includes a delicious BBQ lunch and your name will be entered into a draw to win some fantastic prizes. These cruise-ins are open to any classic vehicle from 1989 or older. There are draw prizes sponsored by dif- ferent local businesses each night and members share in hosting duties. Stroll thru the vehicles while listening to the sounds of music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Volunteers from Emmanuel Community Church offer up hamburgers and hot dogs for sale.
