FOCUS - MAY 2017 31 “It’s sad,” commented Andrea, “but we are trying to put a positive spin on it by celebrating the vibrant history of Epsom.” Community members, teachers and students past and present, are all invited to a celebration to be held on Sunday June 11 from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. “It’s still in the planning stage,” Andrea continued. People are being asked if they have any Epsom school artifacts, photographs, trophies, etc. to display during the open house. The idea to create a book honouring the rich history of Epsom school is being explored. Organizers are also looking for the oldest Epsom graduates to be special guests at the event and Andrea says that a 96-year-old and a 97-year- old have already been located. As for the future, Andrea feels that it’s good the student population of Epsom will stay together. A transition plan is underway, which includes a visit to Prince Albert school by the Epsom kids for a special art night. “The focus is always on the kids,” she concluded.
