Going beyond demonstrations, many of the sites will feature Give It A Whirl hands on activities that involve visitors in the creative process first hand. Did you ever want to weave on a loom, try printmaking, dabble with paints, or step on stage with a script? These are just some of the eclectic arts experiences that are available for creators-to-be, young and old, during the 2017 Lake Scugog Studio Tour. Engaging with tour artists is not limited to Give It A Whirl. There are also demonstrations in every medium, taking place at sites all weekend long. Jewellery lovers will want to see chainmail making, stone cutting, and Niobium anodizing (creating rainbow colours on metal!). Craft col- lectors will be fascinated with wood turning on the lathe, slip trailing in clay and wet leather forming, while visual arts enthusiasts can observe stone and mixed-media sculp- ture techniques, and watch paintings in all media being created before their eyes. Making something by hand is one of the key ingredients to ongoing happiness, not to mention the joy of owning original art. The Lake Scugog Studio Tour has many happy- making moments waiting for visitors. Also, visitors are encouraged to fill out a draw prize entry for a chance to win a unique prize package at each site! Everything visitors need to know to get the most from this year’s Lake Scugog Studio Tour can be found on the Plan Your Tour page at https://scugogstudiotour.ca/plan- your-tour, including the full Give It A Whirl and artist dem- onstration schedules. Schedules can also be found on the back cover of our tour book, available at various locations around Scugog including the Scugog Council for the Arts and META4 Gallery.
