It’s back! Six up-and-coming artists who have not had gallery representation, a gallery show or been juried onto a studio tour have been juried onto the Lake Scugog Studio Tour 2017 (May 6 & 7) as emerging artists. The tour jurists saw their craftsmanship, artistic vision and potential. We are delighted with the array of media these artists are working in. Artists of the tour welcome these emerging artists with open arms and have more planned for them than just host- ing at our sites during the tour. First, we are going to launch them as tour artists with a special group show at the Scugog Council for the Arts Gallery this month. Secondly, we’ll engage them with experienced tour artists in the coming months at our meetings and with mentoring for the tour to come. Lastly, we’ve matched them up with strong leaders from our tour at their sites for the display and selling of their work. Please welcome: Allison Clayton, who works in acrylic and mixed media; Carole Ditomaso, designing and sewing quilts; Hanna Mark, working in a wide variety of media including watercolour and ink; Kate MacPherson, part of the movement to contemporary knitting; Erin LePage, sharing delightful block prints; Marie Kovack, who works in acrylic, oil and pastel and Shraga Bellan, working in wood. Scugog Council for the Arts Gallery Show opening reception is on Saturday November 5 from 1 pm - 3 pm. at the SCA Gallery, 181 Perry St., Port Perry.
