The Scugog Housing Advisory Committee is pleased to present the second annual Scugog Housing Symposium on October 22. The Committee will be presenting a draft Housing Plan called “Housing for all Ages and Stages” and is seeking input from the community to ensure that the housing needs of the citizens of Scugog are captured and reflected in the final Plan. The Committee has heard that there is too little rental accommodation; that there are few options for seniors who wish to downsize and that young families and singles cannot afford to live here. The committee has set an ambitious goal to develop a housing plan that addresses the need to have a robust, welcoming community where individual and family housing needs, and dreams, can be fulfilled. Also, in response to feedback from the 2015 Sympo- sium where people asked to hear more about new de- velopments in Scugog, a presentation by the Stockworth Development Group will outline the scope of the housing complex of condominium apartments and commercial development planned for Oyler Drive at the southern gateway to Port Perry. Aconcurrent session will be presented by Teresa Hunt, a Paralegal registered with the Law Society of Upper Canada, who will conduct an informative, interactive discussion about the roles, rights and responsibilities of Landlords and Tenants in Ontario. Teresa has a wealth of experience to share and she can answer questions you may have as a tenant or that you may anticipate as you decide if you would like to be a landlord. “Stockworth Developments is planning a sig- nificant and comprehensively planned mixed use development on approximately 6.7 hec- tares (16.5 acres) of land at 21 Oyler Drive, Port Perry. The new community comprises a combination of condominium housing, com- mercial and office, recreational and commu- nity uses. The project will be developed in sequence with housing phased with employment uses. Overall the residen- tial/community uses component represents approximately 30.7% of the site area, commercial/office uses 43.2% of the site and open space 26.15% of the site area.” 2nd AnnuAl Housing symposium Saturday October 22, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community Hall, Scugog Community Recreation Centre, 1655 Reach Street, Port Perry Golf for FREE!
