It’s Free. Lakeridge Health Auxiliary (Port Perry) will be collecting monetary donations at the entrance. What are the hours? Friday July 29, 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. saturday July 30, noon - 11 p.m. sunday July 31, noon - 11 p.m. Will alcohol be served? the Port Perry Waterfront ribfest is a licensed event and alcohol can be purchased during the event. everyone is encouraged to enjoy themselves, be responsible with their alcohol consumption and don’t drink and drive! Are children welcome? Absolutely. this is a family event. In addition to the licensed area, we have carnival rides, ice cream and additional vendors set up on the north ball diamond and parking lot, for family participation and enjoyment. What about pets? Only properly identified service animals are permitted. No other animals or pets will be allowed Is parking available? the ribfest is a community event and we expect a large number of out of town guests. to alleviate downtown parking congestion, we encourage everyone to utilize the off site parking at the scugog Community Centre. A no-charge shuttle service is available to move patrons from the Community Centre to the waterfront worry-free. Limited handicapped parking will be available at the bottom of Mary st. Do ribbers or vendors accept credit cards or debit? No. the Port Perry Waterfront ribfest is a cash only event. AtM machines will be on site for your convenience. What other foods are available? Vendors selling ice cream, chicken, corn on the cob, french fries and bloomin’ onions to name a few. Can I smoke? smoking is allowed but only in designated areas. Is there other entertainment? Yes. Bands are scheduled for the entire weekend. Log onto www.portperryribfest.ca for a complete list of bands and stage times. Are volunteers needed? to host an event of this magnitude requires meetings, planning, cooperation of council and government agencies, but most of all it will only succeed with sufficient volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, log onto the website www. portperryribfest.ca and go to the volunteer link and sign up. Your help will be most welcome. Where does the money go? Locally, the rotary Club of Port Perry has contributed $75,000 toward current “Your Hospital, Your Future” renovations. We are planning an additional $25,000 to bring the total contribution to $100,000. Internationally, we support an orphanage in India, along with other Durham region rotary clubs. We continue to support the inoculation of vulnerable children against polio virus. We contribute support and funds toward literacy, on a local, national and international level. We participate and support a very important student exchange program through rotary International. this inclusive program encourages interaction amoung young people from different countries and walks of life to better understand cultural and social differences. the ultimate goal is world peace.
