FOCUS - MARCH 2016 17 Bottling Works. Immediately Jacks entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and he began researching information about the bottling company. Coincidentally a few weeks later Daryl Leatherdale owner of Port Perry Auto Wreckers dropped by the Old Flame with a wooden case stamped with the bottling company name. As ideas started to develop Jack had a chance meeting with Gord Goode Jr. who arranged a meeting with his family. Following the meeting at which he explained his idea to honour the family business brothers Gord and Greg and their mother Jean gave them their blessing to produce a ginger beer including using a replica label on a similar stone bottle. Exactly how long ginger beer was bottled at Port Perry Bottling Works is unknown but records show the com- pany received a shipment of ginger beer bottles in large wooden cases in 1932. The Govancroft Pottery Company of Glasgow Scotland manufactured the orange and tan 10 oz. bottles from Egyptian pottery clay. Now more than 85 years after the rst bottles of ginger beer came o the production line at Port Perry Bottling Works Old Flame Brewing Co. has created a similar brew. Once again coincidentally both companies were located on Perry St. Mr. Doak said that Old Flame made its rst batch of ginger beer in January this year. They took great pains Jean and Gord Goode front along with Jack Doak owner of Old Flame Brewing Co. back left and the Goode brothers Gord Jr. and Greg showing off the original ginger beer bottles and the new commemorative stone bottle. ......................
