FOCUS - JULY 2015 5 Brock townships. Its a small- scale permaculture farm which produces organic fruits and veggies. It also offers agricultural consulting and educational services. Wandering Bear and native storytelleraboriginal studies teacher Raven guided the student body staff and visitors from the Board in a symbolic Official Dedication Ceremony. Smudging singing and drumming were all part of the celebration to thank the heavens and honour the children who are now stewards of the land. Both Phil and Raven really enjoy working with children and teaching them new skills. They both were warmly welcomed by the student population. The schools Cooking Club plans to make use of some of the produce and fruit grown by the children themselves and can be enjoyed for their school snack. Principal Malleau pointed out that it will be interesting for the little Kindergarten students to see how tall the trees have grown by the time they graduate from Grade 8. Appropriately one of the songs performed by the school choir for the occasion was Bloom Where Youre Planted. And thats exactly what the children and their gardens will do.
