Elizabeth Baird is a regular con- tributor to Canadian Living and has a weekly article in the Toronto Sun. She also volunteers as an historic cook at Fort York in Toronto. Bridget Wranich is an expert on Canadian cooking in the 18th and 19th centuries and is one of the founders of the Culinary Historians of Canada. She currently works as the program officer at the Fort York Historical Site in Toronto. Elizabeth and Bridget have co- authored several books on recipes and the culinary arts. The two cu- linary historians have just released their book Recipes for Victory. This beautifully and profusely illus- trated work has numerous recipes and anecdotes about the food and those involved in its preparation on the battlefield and back home in Canada during World War One (1914-1918) All the recipes in their latest work have been tested by qualified historical cooks and chefs at Fort York. Together they will give a presentation on Recipes for Victory at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Queen St., Port Perry on Wednesday November 14 at 7:30. p.m. The meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be provided following the presentation.
