A winter survival tip that will be fun, social and informative. A whole new “chorus of song” be- gins in April at the Nonquon. Join us on April 26th in the evening to be part of the spring awakening as we go in search of frogs. We held our first “Frog” event last spring and participants were amazed at what they heard and saw on a warm spring evening. This year we will be listening for wood frogs, spring peppers and other nighttime residents of the wetland. By Jay Thibert, Special to Focus on Scugog Participants at last year’s CBC4Kids are flying high with enthusiasm. NOVEMBER 22 - CUBA NATURAL HISTORY At our November meeting, North Durham Nature will be taking a trip to Cuba, a destination that evokes sunny beaches for many. However, Cuba is a spectacular nature destination with its distinct habitats from the peculiar limestone knobs of Viñales to the expansive Zapata Swamp to the forest- covered Escambray Mountains. Many of Cuba’s unique birds and reptiles are found nowhere else in the world! Club members James Kamstra, Derek Connelly and Jay Thibert will share their observations and photographs from their exploration of the western part of Cuba. The meeting will be held at Senior’s Centre, 75 Marietta St., Uxbridge. Get Outdoors! (continued from page 29) The orchestra welcomes Irwin Smith, a charming piano vocalist and long time entertainer in our com- munity. The orchestra also features trumpet soloist Andrea George and storyteller Dianne Chandler. Join the orchestra and host Jonathan Van Bilsen for an en- chanting seasonal soirée with refreshments included. You’ll enjoy Vivaldi’s Gloria, Nutcracker and more.
