The two- day event celebrating every- thing canine takes place on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizer Shannon Kelly is pleased to welcome two exciting new events: The wiener dog races and The Sheepdog Festival. The popular Woof Jocks Canine All Stars team will perform. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of eight contests on the main stage. Does your dog have the longest ears or look the most like their owner? “There’s lots of interactive things to do with your dog,” Shannon enthused. Up to 2,000 people are expected to attend to check out the vendors, talk to breeders and rescue agencies, try out the agility course with Fido, or just have a great time at what is billed as Durham’s largest dog festival. LIKE THE FLYING NUN The wiener dog races will be held on the Saturday only, said Lori Greene, volunteer and event coor- dinator, who represents race spon- sor Canadian Dachshund Rescue (Ontario.) There will be classes for standards and minis. The race track is 100 feet long and 20 feet wide.
