FOCUS - JULY 2015 7 stepped up to celebrate the day. They will be closing Queen St. from Water to Perry St. and will take their products outside so fans can shop on their way up to Old Flame from paddling in Palmer Park. The aim is to grow this to a larger scale Arts and Culture Festival in Palmer Park for 2016. Port Perry SUP will also be offering a special lesson rate over the summer to teams who race. For a one hour personalized race ready lesson its only 100 for your team of four a 40 savings or come out to any of Port Perry SUPs weekly classes running out of Joe Fowler Park this year to practice your skills. Last year Paula R. McMurtrys team was the only group to get a race ready lesson and it certainly paid off for them. They placed first Durham Tourism and Gus Brown charged into second and third place. Registration is now open and space is limited. To book your chance to win a FREE paddleboard just reach out to Jenn Sunnerton. If anyone wants to try a Paddle and A Pint without racing Port Perry SUP offers a one hour lesson and a flight of samples from Old Flame throughout the year as one of their promotions. Cost is 45 per person. It ends up you can have too much of a good thing. Kawartha Conservation has indicated that these nutrients have to be reduced by 50 for a healthy lake. The most direct way to help Scugog recover from an overgrowth of weeds is to dredge the silt and sediment that has accumulated and repurpose it into constructed wetlands. Kawartha Conservation has allocated 60000 to the project but sadly that is not enough. Take Back the Lake is a project to help with the financial goals of dredging Lake Scugog.
