52 FOCUS - JULY 2015 www.hankspastries.com Your special day calls for a special cake Choose from a variety of flavours and styles Award winning cakes for all occasions Hanks Pastries204 Queen St. Port Perry 905.985.2172 An evening to remember Wonderful Thats all I can say. Petissimo 2015 was a fantastic event with a great cause. The word itself has no English translation but can be used in many different ways as Master of Ceremonies Neil Crone explained during the evening of Saturday June 6. Petissimo is the brainchild of tenor Glen Kowarsky who pulled together this fantastic collection of musicians and singers led by himself a world class tenor with a cause. That cause is the new Uxbridge-Scugog Animal shelter. Glen owns Dogs at Camp a retreat for your pets when you have to leave them alone for a while. Perhaps it is no coincidence that the word pet is part of Petissimo. The event partnered with Marwans Global Bistro where a pre- set dinner ensured plenty of time for the theatre a five minute walk away. The talented comic and writer Neil Crone kept audiences on the edge of their seats with laughter sometimes falling into the aisles. A 15 piece orchestra The George Lake Big Band started the evening with Glenn Millers In The Mood. Singer Jordana Talsky crooned some old favourites and classic guitarist Maneli Jamal astounded the audi- ence with his talent. Glen tied the event together with several beauti- ful renditions of popular Italian folk songs. Returning to Marwans for the after party we were spoiled by a vast variety of hand-made pastries and delicacies. An evening to remember and certainly one to note for next year. Order well in advance as seats sell quickly. By Jonathan van Bilsen Focus on Scugog Glen Kowarsky and his friends - the brainchild behind this event. PhotobyJonathanvanbilsen
